Are you anxious, overwhelmed or feeling low? Maybe you feel like you need a change? Asking for help can be really difficult, especially if you are struggling! I am an experienced Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Counselling Psychologist. I offer weekly sessions for adults at my rooms in central Bath (with free parking nearby.)
I am a Counselling Psychologist and so I am trained in more than one psychotherapy method which means I can help you to choose a method if you want to. Counselling Psychology is research-based psychological therapy. I am a registered and chartered psychologist and my practice is regulated by the British Psychological Society and the Health Care Professions Council. I adhere to their codes of conduct and I am fully insured and supervised. I have 8 years of experience working as a counsellor, psychotherapist, CBT practitioner, coach and now I work as a psychologist. I have worked with many types of worry, concern and problem. In addition to working extensively with depression, anxiety and low self-esteem, particular areas of interest include:
· Loss of a loved one, relationship, job, self, life plans, ideas and hope
· Childhood neglect, emotional abuse, low self-esteem
· Chronic illness
· Students and young adults from age 18+
· Parents, parenting, marital difficulty
· Gender, masculinity, femininity
· Life stage change, crisis, retirement and illness
I have worked with with all kinds of psychological and emotional concern and I can help you to achieve self-awareness, make change, increase resilience and coping skills, develop and try new perspectives, patterns and behaviours and bring relief from stress and distress.
Therapy can also help you further your emotional intelligence, emotional regulation, confidence, achieve life goals, enhance relationships of all types and more.
Very often we struggle with problems on our own and find it difficult to talk to others because we worry about upsetting others or fear they will not understand. We can become self-critical when going it alone is not helping and sometimes, we kick ourselves when we are down.
I provide safe, confidential, non- judgemental, acceptance for you to talk about what troubles you and I respect your right to be you. My space is secure, welcoming space and I have a wide skill set to assist you. I am friendly, easy to get on with and I have a sense of humour:) The first 30 minute session is free just call, text or email me for more information.
I work mostly in an integrative way, I listen carefully and I consider your experience. Therapies I am experienced in include; psychodynamic therapy, person-centred therapy, humanistic therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy and cognitive analytic therapy. I often use a combination of these therapies depending on what we think is best. I consider all information including your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. I work collaboratively , I research your concerns, make a tailored plan to resolve the problem or reach the goal and t then do the plan together. Your therapy plan is individual to you.
Your experience is important and there is a need for you to be heard and understood in order for you to make progress. We can focus on the past, the present or both. Often present difficulties or distress can be connected with past experiences or childhood experiences. This can make things feel confused and we sometimes use old ways to solve new problems, even if this is unhelpful.
I work alongside you and I think with you. This helps to build resilience, self-awareness and find new ways to resolve problems and move forward.
The journey of a thousand miles begins with single step! And you may not have as far to go as you think:)!
Call, text or email Alice to arrange a 30 minute, free-of-charge meeting for you to find out how we could work together and whether this is right for you.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am an HCPC registered Chartered Counselling Psychologist, trained in the South West of England. I work using an integrative approach which incorporates the two modalities I originally trained in and which I now supplement with useful and effective strategies from other psychological approaches :).
Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
Health and Care Professions Council
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
