Integrative Psychotherapist MSc UKCP, BACP

About me

I am a qualified integrative psychotherapist and counsellor (UKCP, BACP) working in private practice and the NHS. My approach is informed by the relational psychoanalytic, humanistic and cognitive behavioural traditions, with a sharper focus on somatic therapies, infant research, Gestalt and archetypal psychology. I am especially interested in the body psychotherapy traditions.  Drawing from different psychotherapeutic modalities, I shape our work together in a way that best supports your personal process.

You could be looking for tools and guidance on how to manage a conflict or an immediate crisis, such as loss or bereavement, how to adjust to a new role, manage stress, sleep or relationship issues. You might also want to understand why particular patterns of acquired behaviour in your life feel difficult to shift, or how to come to terms with a traumatic or painful personal history. Perhaps you are aiming to cultivate greater imagination and creativity as part of your personal growth. Psychotherapy can offer a supportive space to explore your difficulties and empower you with self-knowledge.

My approach

I work with you through dialogue to deepen your insight and reflective capacities, as well as invite regular body awareness and exploratory movement. Together we will pay mindful attention to the ways in which you tell and relate to your story, while gently noticing the impulses and overall spontaneity of your body. This approach can allow us to uncover early experiences and memories that cannot be accessed through language alone. It can also help recognise what leads to patterns of repression, compulsion, fear, feeling stuck etc.

Although therapy can at times feel challenging, we will move through the process in a way that feels containing and well paced.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • MSc in Integrative Psychotherapy and Counselling, University of Warwick (2020-2025)
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Therapy, University of Birmingham (2022-2023)
  • MA in Cultural and Comparative Studies, University of Warwick (2008-2009)

I also have 14+ years’ experience as a public service interpreter within the UK judicial system, prison system, the Police force, and local authority agencies. In this capacity, I worked with both adults and young people.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BABCP
British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP)

The BABCP is the lead organisation for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy in the UK. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the practice, theory or development of CBT. BABCP also provides accreditation for CBT therapists. BABCP accredited members adhere to the Standards of Conduct, Performance and Ethics in the Practice of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies, and are willing to be scrutinised in this adherence as required.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I am drawn to exploring identity theories and how moving across geographies can foster a hybrid sense of self - one that holds both the grief of leaving behind what is known, and the possibilities that arise from new cultures and experiences.
