About me
Welcome
Hello, I am Alexandra Bush and I would like to welcome you to my counselling directory page.
Counselling offers you the space to talk about the issues or anxiety that you are facing so that you can come to a solution that is right for you, overcome your concerns and support you to achieve positive objectives,
It can help you improve your relationships, emotional well-being and personal confidence. This can lessen the effect of anxiety, stress, depression or other symptoms you might be experiencing.
I am a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist experienced in helping clients with a range of problems, with a particular expertise in relationship issues.
I work with individuals and couples at my therapy practice set in a private rural location near Stowmarket, Suffolk.
Your time with me will give you a confidential space to talk openly. You can explore ways of resolving any issues that are concerning you. We will focus on what you would like to achieve and together we will work at a pace that is beneficial to you.
I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and have been practising since 2009.
What clients have said about my service:
"After feeling overwhelmed by various life events for a few weeks and countless conversations with friends about not feeling like myself, I decided I should stop burying my head in the sand and actually seek help. I have now been receiving Alex’s invaluable support for just a month, but already I can see that I hadn’t been burying my head in the sand for a few weeks; it had in fact been a few years. I can honestly say that I have never felt so understood and, in such a short time, it has already made the world of difference to me. The setting in which sessions take place is safe and tranquil, and the environment is one of trust with complete absence of judgement. I think there is still too much stigma around the idea of counselling or therapy, which is a real shame. The world throws so much at us so it is no wonder that sometimes it is simply too much to process alone. The scariest part of all of this is just accepting that you need support and making that initial phone call. Everything after that only gets easier and your life suddenly seems more manageable. I feel it is one of the best investments I have made." A.H.
"I needed to talk to someone about my marriage. Counselling was always in the back of my mind but did not feel brave enough to make the call. Things became too hard at home and I decided to give Alex a call which turned out to be the best thing I could have done!. Alex is warm, engaging and professional. The toughest problems that I was going through began to feel better with time and I have an understanding about myself that helps me cope differently to the problems faced a year ago." M.W.
"After a few weeks of trying to cope with my emotions following my sisters death, I realised that I needed support. I found Alex through a counselling referral service. I was welcomed by Alex to share my deepest feelings in a very trusting and warm environment. Through Alex's guidance and knowledge, I was able to understand what I was feeling and why. Alex helps me to stay grounded and see situations for what they are, which I could not do on my own. For this, I am truly grateful!" J.H.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
