About me
Welcome. As a qualified counsellor and psychotherapist, I offer a welcoming, safe and confidential space for us to work together, so you feel able to better understand the difficulties you are facing and make changes for the better.
Whether you are seeking therapy because life feels generally difficult at the moment, you have relationship difficulties, are battling past traumas, have low mood, or are anxious, I can work with you towards positive change.
I am also a Health Psychologist. I have a deep understanding of how past or present emotional issues may impact our physical well-being. This may also be helpful if you, or someone close to you, has recently been diagnosed with a medical illness, or is living with a long-term health condition. I can draw on my experiences of working as a health psychologist in the NHS, and my PhD research around the meaning of illness, to support and understand the unique impact this may have for you.
Seeking help and support can feel intimidating, and you may come across some unfamiliar terms. Along with counselling and therapy, different therapy ‘styles’ or ‘approaches’ are offered. Being an integrative therapist means I can draw on different therapeutic approaches according to your needs. In explaining what I can offer you, I hope along the way I can demystify some of the process for you.
My non-judgemental, honest, warm approach will help us build a collaborative, trusting relationship. This is important because research has shown that despite the type of therapy, the client-therapist relationship is key to successful therapy.
It can take time to feel ready to face and share some of the issues that have brought you to therapy, and the pace of therapy will reflect this. A supportive, holding space will be the bedrock of our work together. I have spent the last 2 years providing long-term therapy in a women’s centre, and working at depth has depended on my strong client-therapist relationships.
We will regularly review our work together, taking into account changes in your circumstances or needs.

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information
I offer an initial free 30 minute Zoom or telephone consultation where we can explore what has brought you to therapy. I will describe how I work, the different therapy types (including what may work best for you), how we can reach any goals you have or work towards changes you would like to make, and of course, answer any of your questions. Most importantly, we can decide if we may be a “good fit” to work together.
