About me
Ajay Lamba has delivered psychotherapy in NHS hospitals and private practice, which has provided a wealth of experience with people from diverse backgrounds and all age groups. His academic and work career has been focused on helping people achieve their goals of recovery by relieving symptoms of depression and anxiety, from mild to severe psychological difficulties.
During treatment Mr Lamba predominantly uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and calls upon a number of complementary psychotherapeutic techniques such as mindfulness and compassion-focussed work, to provide his clients with a range of tools to help them make sense of their difficulties and then for us to work together in overcoming their distress.
He also focuses on long-term physical health conditions and the causality between a physical health problem (chronic or acute) and the impact that this may have on a client’s mental health. This involves influencing aspects of one’s life that can be controlled and working towards acceptance based on values on symptoms which are harder to change. Physical health problems may include diabetes (T1 & T2), chronic fatigue syndrome, pain, IBS, COPD and many other conditions including medically unexplained symptoms.
The initial focus will be on the therapeutic relationship to ensure that we reach a shared understanding of difficulties before embarking on strategies and interventions to help support overall wellbeing. Treatment is delivered on a short and long-term basis, which can involve friends and family members, including targeted developmental programmes such health, fitness and social skills.
Initial E-mail contact preferred.
