About me

There comes a time in our lives where we may feel low/stuck, distressed, anxious, confused or perhaps reached a turning point as a result of a major change, for example, a relationship breakdown, bereavement or redundancy. If you are faced with these or any other similar issues or perhaps the challenge you are dealing with doesn’t match the support levels you may or may not have in your daily life, then counselling could be a place for you to explore your options in an environment that is supportive, accepting and non-judgemental.

I am an experienced counsellor working with both adults and young people aged 11 and above across a range of issues including anxiety, depression, self-harm, trauma, abuse, PTSD. I will offer you a safe and confidential space in which you can explore your issues.

My aim is to help you help yourself; together, we will work on recognising your life patterns of relating and their impact on the circumstances that have brought you to seek counselling. I believe that with this awareness, you can begin to access a wider range of options that will enable you to make appropriate changes.

My level of training means that I have gained a depth of reflection and understanding that is evident in my work. As a relational counsellor, I aspire to work with you to create a strong therapeutic relationship which I believe is central to accomplishing your intended goals.

I offer a free initial half an hour session without any further commitment for you to see whether you would be comfortable working with me and I can answer any questions you may have.

I run a small private practice from my home.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
