About me

Welcome - I'm Abu, an integrative therapist. I am trained in integrative counselling and work in aperson-centred and relational way. My practice is trauma-informed and draws on parts work and creative techniques.

I offer a warm and supportive space where you can start to find meaning, change and a greater sense of ease. With curiosity and compassion, we can address the challenges you're experiencing at your own pace.

Therapy with me is a collaborative process in which we work together to identify the most effective ways to support your unique needs. Sessions often involve talking and reflection, alongside moments of slowing down to notice what’s happening in your body or exploring experiences through images, metaphors, or other gentle creative ways of working. Creative methods of working in therapy can allow for a different kind of understanding of your experiences and emotions.

I welcome people from all backgrounds and walks of life. I'm inclusive of gender, sexual, and relationship diversity (GSRD) and mindful of the ways power, culture, and difference shape experience. My commitment is to remain in dialogue, even when we see the world differently.

If you're curious about working together, please get in touch. I offer a 15-minute initial phone session at no charge.

Training, qualifications & experience

Beyond my private practice, I offer therapy through a local service that supports survivors of rape and sexual abuse.

Experience

My lived experience of healing continues to shape the way I meet clients with empathy and a non-judgmental presence. I moved away from my home country at 18 and have since lived in various places, eventually arriving in the UK, where I trained as a therapist. I've always been drawn to exploring what it means to be human and to understand the world more deeply. I value silliness just as much as seriousness. The openness and creativity that guide my life also flow into my work with clients.

The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
