About me

Hello, I am Abbie and I am a BACP registered counsellor working in Meltham. I offer a secure and confidential space for my practice which is centred around kindness, safety, integrity and acceptance. I offer face-to-face sessions as well as outdoor therapy.

Training, qualifications & experience

I offer therapeutic counselling to help you work through some of life's struggles that you are experiencing, in the hope you can move forward to a place where you feel more connected with yourself, others and the world around you.

Alongside face-to-face sessions, I also offer outdoor therapy for those who feel more at ease being outside in nature, or may struggle to sit inside for 50 minutes with the focus being solely on them. This can be either sat together in nature or a ‘walk-and-talk’ therapy session. I believe nature is a great healer.

A bit about me

I currently work part-time for a mental health charity. This work connects me to clients experiencing a wide range of worries, concerns and issues from grief to substance abuse, from anxiety to relationship issues – and everything in between.

In the past I have worked for a mens mental health charity and a charity who look after the elderly in the Huddersfield area. As much as I value my qualifications, it was my time with these charities where I learnt the most. It taught me the importance of my relationship with my clients, to help them feel calm and at ease in my presence. From this learning, I now centre my practice around developing a relationship that is real, honest, trusting and I will demonstrate an un-conditional acceptance of who you are and your experiences in life.

Finding a therapist is not easy and reaching out for support takes courage, so well done for taking the first step on your path towards healing. I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation or in-person consultation for you to see if we are the right fit and to help you make your decision.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
