About me
Thank you for taking the first step to see if counselling is for you. I am a positive believer that if you are unhappy in your life that change is possible. As a Senior BACP Accredited Counsellor and Supervisor I know that seeking help can be extremely difficult. I have a vast amount of experience in both the NHS and the private sector dealing with all types of difficulties. I am an Integrative Counsellor which means that I use various approaches such as Mindfulness, Psychodynamic, CBT and Person-centred therapy based on individual client needs to ensure the most effective outcomes are achieved. Within my practice I offer both open- ended counselling and short term counselling for both adults, families and children over the age of 8.
My work with Barnardo's (Link) has enabled me to work effectively with adoption issues.
I have undertaken further training in Couple Counselling 2021 to ensure my practice is enhanced and relevant. Having undertaken further training in working online I feel this enables my practice to be more assessable to individuals and couples.
My practice is based on recommendations from people who have had a positive experience of counselling they have received from me.
Within the practice my specialties are in the following :-
Cancer and life threatening illnesses, Bereavement, Grief Recovery, Stress, Adoption, Anxiety and Depression, Couple Counselling and Family Therapy.
I undertake work with health professionals:- GPs, Nurses, Mental Health Workers, Social Workers and other allied health professionals for counselling or supervision.
My son, Paul Howlett, offers free counselling as a trainee Human Givens Practitioner in-person at my practice. He is able to offer counselling for mild to moderate presentations of common mental health conditions, such as anxiety, depression, anger, phobia and bereavement. Please contact Paul for further details via his email paulhowletthg@gmail.com.
I am also available for onsite visits for critical incidents which can be a half or full day depending on requirements.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
