MSc Counselling & Psychotherapy MBACP Accredited

About me

Hi I'm Tammy. Are you seeking affordable Counselling/Supervision with a friendly and professional Counsellor/Supervisor ?

My role in counselling/psychotherapy is to listen empathically and to the concerns you bring and offer self-care techniques so that you become enabled to calm and relieve anxiousness and distress. Talking within a therapeutic context is frequently grounding and calming and I offer a safe space so that you can express and develop ways to manage strong or painful emotions. Problems, issues difficulties and painful feelings are uniquely experienced and counselling can be short, medium or long- term. Often just knowing you have a safe space to take your concerns gives you some hope and realistic hope relieves distress and despair. When it is hard to see any hope I aim to hold this in mind whilst empathising with the severity of concern you are experiencing.

What I Offer

I trained to a high level (MSc-Level 7) to become more informed around developmental stages from childhood onwards. My initial training  in a Person Centred Approach allows me to work respectfully and ethically with individuals from different areas of life with different life experiences. I have built up a wide range of strategies - CBT, Solution Focused, Mindfulness, Somatic, Trauma focused, Brain spotting and Creative and Art techniques.

I believe talking to a trusted counsellor in therapy can help to ground you so that you become able to manage intense emotions rather than continuing to be overwhelmed by them.  After developing self-care strategies it becomes safe to talk in counselling about difficult, painful or traumatic experiences in order to process emotions and become clearer about choices currently available or that may become available to you in the future.

About Me

I am a BACP accredited Counsellor & Psychotherapist with fourteen years experience (counselling adults, couples, young people and children - through private practice, NHS, EAP counselling agencies and voluntary sectors, prisons, substance misuse centres, health centres, primary and secondary schools and a centre for victims of domestic violence). My background includes having worked 3 years in the community with people who have Mental Health issues, learning difficulties & physical disabilities. Before that I was a Primary School support teacher; working to improve self esteem and confidence in children for ten years. Specialist areas include: working with trauma, anxiety, self-esteem and confidence issues.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
