Sonia Prescott

Counsellor AD DIP MBCAP CPCAB & Counselling Supervisor

About me

I am an experienced, qualified Therapeutic Counsellor, and Counselling Supervisor for other Counsellors. I have over 14 years experience working with Adults, Couples, Adolescents and Children, providing a confidential empathic and understanding approach. This is in a safe, non judgemental environment, where my clients can feel at ease. I run my own private practice Tranquility Counselling in Doncaster and am available to travel out to meet clients individual needs if required. I have previously worked as a Therapeutic Counsellor within the NHS and local authority for a number of years.

I feel we all experience emotional challenges at some point in our life. We often look for help and support when facing difficult feelings or life situations. It can be hard to talk to immediate family and friends sometimes, as transference and opinion often occurs. Those invisible illnesses called depression and anxiety can be hard to understand, let alone see. Therefore counselling can help in finding new ways of thinking and feeling, whilst bringing about lasting change. Empowering yourself in a positive way.

I can understand the first step to accessing counselling can seem quite daunting, I experienced this myself many years ago. If you would like to ask any questions before making an appointment please don't hesitate to call or email me. If you would prefer me to initiate a conversation please leave your contact details and I will call you back as soon as I can.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
