If you are struggling with painful or difficult feelings and experiences, or having troubles in your relationships, then counselling could help you. I would welcome the opportunity for us to meet and explore these or other issues you may wish to bring.
I am a Counsellor and UKCP registered Psychotherapist. I am also a Tutor at The Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute and Clinical Supervisor for therapists and support workers.
I would be interested in meeting you, hearing your story and taking the time with you to work through your feelings and experiences.
I realise that taking the step to access therapy is an important and maybe anxiety-provoking one. So if you want to know more in making this decision, I have a website that may give you a sense of the way that I work and answer some of your questions.
Training, qualifications & experience
In addition to working as a Counsellor/Psychotherapist, I am a Tutor and Clinical Supervisor.
Masters Degree in Integrative Psychotherapy - Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute (accredited by The University of Birmingham)
This focused on our experience of relationships (with ourselves as well as others), from the very beginning to the present day. This can have a profound impact on our well-being - especially in the way we often lose connection when we feel most vulnerable or struggle to find self-acceptance. When people hit a crisis in life, often this is the time when these difficulties become highlighted. Therefore, my approach involves building a safe and warm relationship where all of this can be explored.
My Masters research explored issues around adoption, the mother-daughter relationship and intergenerational trauma.
Diploma in Clinical Supervision - Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute
I am qualified to offer clinical supervision for trainees and qualified therapists. I am on the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) directory of approved supervisors.
Honours Degree in Psychology - The University of Birmingham
This was awarded through the University of Birmingham and gave me a solid grounding in theories about the human mind, the way we develop, what motivates us, how we learn and process information.
Counselling and Psychotherapy Experience
I have worked therapeutically with young people and adults in the voluntary sector and in private practice over the past 12 years. Among the various issues I have encountered are: relationship difficulties; depression and anxiety; trauma; bullying; low self esteem; physical and sexual abuse; self harm; bereavement and loss. I am open to working with whatever issues you may bring, alongside both of us discovering all that we can know about who you are as a person.
I would also add that sometimes this process takes time. I specialise in longer term work, although I am also able to take a more specific issue-based approach over a few sessions.
Treating your information with care
I take the handling of your personal information seriously, in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). To find out more, you can find my privacy notice via the following link: http://clarity-counselling.co.uk/content/privacy-notice
Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
UK Council for Psychotherapy
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
