About me

I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist working with both individuals and couples (including same sex couples). I provide a confidential service in a peaceful and safe environment in which you can explore your problems, your life or whatever it is that is affecting your well-being at this time.

I offer counselling/ psychotherapy via telephone and Skype as well as face to face.

To embark on counselling is to enter a deeply personal and therapeutic relationship with someone who can help you to find your way to live your life effectively, and to cope with the various problems that are a part of our lives. I often liken counselling to having someone walk with you awhile during a difficult part of your life.

Furthermore, counselling provides you with the time and space to talk things through, reflect and explore aspects of yourself, your relationship and your life that you are not happy with. It can be invaluable in helping you determine what you would like from life; assist in exploring who you really are; and help you take the action you need to change your life.

The type of counselling that I offer aims to empower you so that you can work through your problems yourself. It facilitates and nurtures the inherent healing ability in us all. I provide a safe environment and therapeutic relationship that is conducive to helping you do this. Part of this is through me accepting and valuing you for who you are and without judgement. By being genuine and honest, and through empathising with you to share understanding, I can help you work through your problems, fears, anxieties, anger etc. I can also offer a different perspective to your situation through unprejudiced reflection. This helps particularly when you ‘can’t see the wood for the trees’. Counselling can help you to see more clearly.

Counselling is not about giving advice and does not offer a miracle cure. There is no diagnosis. It is purely an opportunity for you to have someone who can listen, reflect, and help you to shed light on your problems. It also has the potential to elicit positive changes in you and subsequently your life. Many clients have described how the process has helped them gain clarity, perspective, insights and realisations as well as processing through painful feelings.

To perform at our best in our relationships and in life, we need to be free of any emotional limitations, fears or limiting beliefs.

The counselling process can be quite hard and challenging at times – but through such times comes insight and transformation. Not an easy task but one that many have found worthwhile.

In my experience I have found that clients are able to easily relax into the counselling process and then use it to find within themselves the strength to overcome a wide range of difficulties.
