About me

There is tremendous value in talking through your ideas, problems, and feelings with a psychotherapist who has the experience, training and expertise to understand what you are going through, and help you create a plan to turn your life around.

As a counsellor, psychotherapist and hypnotherapist, I would like to help you improve your emotional well being, enhance your ability to engage in interpersonal relationships and to empower you with the tools necessary to take control of your life.

I would offer you the opportunity to talk in confidence with me, and my only aim would be to listen to you carefully and without judgment, so that with understanding, I can support you as fully as possible in your search to find how best to move forward, in the areas of your life you choose to explore. Your decision to begin counselling or psychotherapy is an indication of your strength, hope, and a deeply held belief that problems can become more manageable and that life can feel more fulfilling.

In therapy, together we'll create a relationship to help you discover and change patterns of feeling, thinking, and relating that may be causing you to feel stuck, confused, or overwhelmed. In a safe and trusting environment, our conversations will unfold in the space and time you need to get to know yourself better and become free to follow your life goals and desires.

I have been counselling as a qualified counsellor, psychotherapist and hypnotherapist for a period of 22 years. I have been awarded a Diploma in Advanced Counselling, and I've completed four years of Clinical Training as a Psychotherapist. I have also trained and become qualified as a Master Practitioner of Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). In addition I am qualified in Hypnotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and EMDR.

I am based in the Torbay area, and practice as a Psychotherapist and supervisor working with individuals, couples and families. I also currently hold a Diploma in Clinical Supervision, and supervise trainees and also counsellors working in GP settings and private practice.

I have a confidential private practice (with disabled access) based in Preston, Paignton, and I am currently contracted by Torbay Social Services, Devon and Cornwall Police and the NHS as a Psychotherapist. I have gained much valuable experience, and currently also work with leading Employee Assistance programmes and Insurance providers.

I hold an Enhanced CRB check to ensure your protection, and I undertake Continuing Professional Development and regular Clinical Supervision to make certain that you will receive the best and latest treatment in safety. I adhere to the code of ethics of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I have recently written a book on the subject of Panic attacks and this work is in the process of being published.

As well as face to face sessions, I also offer online counselling. For more information please contact me.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
