About me
I am a BACP (British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy) accredited counsellor and a registered member of UKCRP (United Kingdom Registered Counsellor/Psychotherapist) with over 15 years experience working in various agency settings and - since 2006 - managing my own private counselling practice in Tring.
I am also a supervisor and offer clinical supervision for both trainees and qualified counsellors individually or in groups.
I am able to offer face to face or telephone counselling and coaching.
I work integratively with individuals - both young people and adults - and couples and I offer either short term or open ended counselling depending on client need and circumstance.
I have extensive experience working with clients presenting with a range of issues including but not limited to:
- Depression, stress and anxiety
- Loss and bereavement- including infant loss
- Challenges of being in a relationship
- Challenges of being a parent
- Challenges arising when a relationship breaks down: separation, divorce and blended families
- Adapting to the many life stages
- Workplace issues
- Sexual identity
- Challenges of being different or parenting a child who is different: working with autism
- Anger and shame
I provide counselling to clients referred to me from a number of Employeee Assistance Programmes (EAPs) and I am an accredited counsellor for BUPA.
My approach is to work with my clients to empower them to deal more effectively with problems either in the present or linked to the past or anticipated future events which are causing anxiety or worry. By clarifying and exploring problems, I believe greater understanding is gained which can lead to the formulation of plans and the possibility to move forward.
In summary, I endeavor to offer my clients a safe and confidential space and provide a collaborative therapeutic relationship to empower them to locate and trust their own inner resources. This is underpinned by offering my clients my curiosity, congruence, courage and compassion.
I am committed to working to the BACP Ethical Standard. I also have comprehensive indemnity insurance and current DBS certificates for working with adults and young people.
Prior to training to be a counsellor, I spent 20 years in Human Resource Management in senior positions in the hospitality industry. This experience together with my counselling skills enables me to offer coaching to clients in life and work issues.
I began training to be a counsellor in 2001 and was awarded my accredited status with the BACP in 2012.
I have taught counselling skills to Diploma level West Herts College from 2007 to 2012. This involved teaching a programme of validated training courses to trainee counsellors.
I have completed a Certificate in Counselling Supervision for both individuals and groups. I currently work as a supervisor for MIND and CRUSE offering clinical supervision to individuals and groups.
My commitment to continuing professional development is ongoing and has recently included training in working with autism, infant loss and anger and shame.
Please feel free to contact me by email or give me a call and we can have an initial chat about what you are looking for and what I can offer. If it feels right for you, we can arrange to meet for an assessment session.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
