With eighteen years experience as a counsellor and psychotherapist I aim to create a safe, comfortable and secure environment where you can talk, be heard non-judgmentally in complete confidence and feel supported. For the forseeable future all my sessions will be held by Zoom video. I'll provide guidance notes on how to set up a therapeutic space of your own before we start.
Most people I see feel one or more of anxiety, depression, anger, stress, panic attacks, low self-esteem or find relationships difficult. Sometimes feelings may seem confusing or out of proportion to the event that triggered them or don't seem to arise from anything specific at all. Or relationships fall into the same pattern and become unsatisfying.
I usually offer once weekly 50 minute sessions though if we feel it would be helpful we can arrange twice weekly sessions. Our interactive therapeutic relationship will be unique to you. I aim to offer you the opportunity to understand why you feel the way you do and make sense and understanding of what may previously have felt incomprehensible. To feel better about yourself and move to a life that feels more satisfying.
I have experience seeing women and men of all ages and ethnicities. If you're thinking about starting but aren't sure I'm happy to have a brief conversation over the phone without obligation.
I'm normally based in Islington in a purpose-built suite of therapy rooms offering a calm and quiet environment for therapy just across the road from Angel tube. Local buses from the City, West End, Stoke Newington and Hackney stop outside or nearby. On street meter parking is available nearby.
Training, qualifications & experience
I'm Accredited by the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy and Registered by the British Psychoanalytic Council and am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and the Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling and am bound by their ethics codes.
Having completed a rigorous 5 year training I am qualified as both a counsellor and psychotherapist with wpf Therapy, one of the most prestigious therapy organisations. For seven years I managed a charitable counselling agency in Hertfordshire.

Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
British Psychoanalytic Council
The British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) is a professional association, representing the profession of psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
The organisation is itself made up of fourteen member organisations and BPC accredits the trainings of its member organisations. An individual who qualifies from one of these trainings is then eligible for entry into the BPC's register.
BPC registrants are governed by a code of ethics, a policy of continuing professional development, a statement on confidentiality and a complaints procedure. The BPC is a Member Society of the European Federation for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy in the Public Sector (EFPP). Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
UK Council for Psychotherapy
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
