Supervision details
I am a qualified clinical supervisor (University of Southampton) and eligible for registration as a BPS supervisor.
In the NHS I supervise several Trainee Clinical Psychologists, and Qualified Clinical Psychologists from band 7 to 8b. In private practice, I supervise Counselling Psychologists and Clinical Psychologists.
I have a warm, interpersonal style of supervision - offering a mix of reflective space with teaching and mentoring. I have been supervising for 8 years and receive regular positive feedback about my supervision. I strongly believe in supervision being a safe place to reflect on successes, challenges and the difficult experiences we have as therapists; integrating the personal and professional and using psychodynamic and systemic thinking to reformulate and understand our clients and ourselves in each interaction.
In my practice, I enjoy using CBT, CFT, ACT, CAT and mindfulness in an integrative way to deliver a tailor made therapy for my clients. I also believe in this approach in supervision and enjoy supporting supervisees to make links between different therapy modalities and integrating elements of them into practice.
My areas of interest include men's mental health (my thesis topic), working with women and feminist issues in society, community psychology approaches, analytic and psychodynamic themes within cognitive therapies. I am particularly passionate about supporting those who have health problems, anxiety, health anxiety and complex trauma or attachment difficulties in their background.
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
