Supervisor
Integrative Counsellor MBACP, MPsych

Supervision details

Supervision with me is collaborative, reflective and grounded in the reality of the work.

I see supervision as more than a place to talk through cases or check that things are being done correctly. It is a space to step back, think openly, explore what may be happening beneath the surface and make sense of the work from different angles. That includes the client, the therapeutic relationship, your own responses, the wider context, and the impact the work may be having on you.

My role is not to position myself as the expert in the room. I want supervision to feel like a genuine working relationship where you can bring uncertainty, questions, mistakes, difficult feelings and the parts of the work that do not always feel easy to say out loud. I will offer challenge where it is useful, but always within a relationship that feels supportive, respectful and psychologically safe.

My background is integrative, relational and trauma informed, and my supervision reflects that. I draw on a range of perspectives rather than working from one rigid model. Depending on what you bring, we might explore clinical thinking, ethical dilemmas, boundaries, safeguarding, relational dynamics, parallel process, professional development, confidence, or your own place within the work.

I am particularly interested in what happens in the relationship, both between therapist and client and within supervision itself. Sometimes what is happening in the room can tell us as much as the case material itself. I also believe supervision should support you to develop your own judgement and confidence, rather than becoming dependent on someone else to tell you what to do.

Alongside client work, I am happy to support with areas such as private practice, professional identity, developing a specialism, managing complex work, and thinking about where you want your practice to go next.

Ultimately, I want supervision to be a space where you can think more clearly, feel supported in the work and leave with a stronger sense of what you are noticing, what matters, and what you want to do next.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
