Supervision details

What I Offer

I offer warm, collaborative and reflective clinical supervision to qualified and trainee counsellors.

What I Believe

I believe supervision should provide a space where you feel able to talk openly about your client work, including the times when you feel uncertain, challenged or simply need another perspective. My aim is to create a supportive relationship where we can think together about your practice, while also allowing space for appropriate challenge, curiosity and professional development.

My Approach

My approach to supervision is humanistic and integrative. I draw particularly on the Seven-Eyed Model of Supervision, which enables us to explore different aspects of the therapeutic work, including the client, the counsellor, the therapeutic relationship, the supervisory relationship and the wider context in which the work takes place.

For me, supervision is about more than reviewing individual clients. It can also provide an opportunity to explore your use of self, professional identity, confidence, boundaries, ethical dilemmas, risk, self-care and the impact that therapeutic work can have on us as practitioners.

My Experience

My own counselling experience spans private practice, voluntary organisations, higher education, NHS placements and online counselling services. I also have particular experience of working with individuals and families affected by acquired brain injury and significant changes in health and circumstances.

My Qualifications

I hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Clinical Supervision and an MSc in Psychotherapeutic Counselling (Distinction), and I am a Registered Member of the BACP.

Next Steps

I welcome enquiries from both qualified counsellors and counsellors in training. For trainees, supervision will need to meet the requirements of your training provider.

Supervision is currently available online or by telephone.

I offer a free 15-minute introductory telephone call so that we can discuss what you are looking for from supervision and see whether we feel we would work well together.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
