Reflect, Connect and Flourish – Outdoors

As a nature based outdoor supervisor, I offer psychotherapists and counsellors, as well as other health care practitioners, a space to reflect on their practice in a slightly different way. By going outside of the traditional four walls, and into the restorative space of the natural world, fresh perspectives can emerge and help reduce current difficulty or stuckness.

Supervision to me, is not just about case discussions, but about nourishing your professional and personal well being. Be stepping outside, we can engage with nature as a co-facilitator, offering a source of creativity and insight through engagement of an abundance of metaphors offered by the natural world. Simply breathing in the open air by either sitting or walking outside can offer a sense of grounding, supporting reflection and renewal.

You may not be working therapeutically outside yourself, or you may be new to the idea and want to begin to consider how to weave it into your existing practice. Equally you may be a seasoned outdoor therapist, and be keen to develop your practice further by engaging in nature based outdoor supervision. Either way, I can tailor sessions to meet your individual needs.

With a Diploma in Consultative Supervision for healthcare practitioners, I am experienced in working with a wide range of health professionals and can offer not just clinical case supervision but also personal and professional reflective practice for individuals and groups. Guided by the Proctor (1986) model of Supervision as well as Hawkins and Shohet’s (2020) seven eyed model, I weave these theoretical models with the opportunities offered by the natural world to explore your individual practice.

Why choose nature – based supervision?
-    Deeper reflection – nature slows us down, allowing for more profound insight and self awareness
-    Reduced stress and burnout – the outdoors naturally soothes the nervous system, making space for clarity to emerge
-    Embodied and experiential – Engage your senses, tune into the present and feel more connected to your work
-    Enhancing therapeutic presence – learn to integrate nature based approaches into your own practice

Supervision/ Reflective Practice session costs:
1hr Individual: £70

1.5hr Individual: £100

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
