Supervision details

I have four years' experience providing supervision to counselling trainees, both individually and within groups, including students undertaking diploma and degree-level counselling training. I also bring 12 years' experience within behavioural practice, supervising programmes, families and individuals and supporting the development and implementation of interventions through Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).

As an integrative supervisor, I aim to create a safe, thoughtful and collaborative space where you can explore your practice openly, develop your skills and strengthen your confidence as a therapist. My supervision is grounded in safeguarding, ethical practice, constructive challenge, self-reflection and ongoing professional development.

I see supervision as more than simply meeting professional requirements or 'ticking boxes'. I want it to be a space where we can think creatively together about your clients, your therapeutic relationships and your own development as a practitioner. I will offer practical ideas and skills that you can take into your work, while encouraging you to develop your own therapeutic voice and professional identity.

My integrative approach draws on person-centred, psychodynamic and existential thinking, while remaining open to other therapeutic perspectives and ways of understanding human experience. I am particularly interested in the relationship between the client's experience and the therapist's own responses, assumptions and presence. Exploring this therapeutic relationship can help us understand what may be happening in the room and create opportunities to develop and fine-tune your practice.

I place importance on cultural humility, diversity and looking beyond dominant Western models of psychological thought. I encourage supervisees to remain curious about how culture, identity, relationships, social context and lived experience shape both the client and the therapeutic relationship. This includes considering what may be influencing a client's experience, what the therapist brings into the room, and where our understanding may need to expand.

I have supervised trainees and practitioners working across a wide range of areas, including safeguarding, trauma, abuse, neurodiversity, mental health difficulties, relationships, sexuality, career concerns and complex life circumstances. I have experience working across different therapeutic modalities and enjoy supporting practitioners to integrate theory with their individual style, values and client work.

I am committed to continuing to read, learn, teach and develop as a practitioner and supervisor. I bring curiosity, creativity, warmth and professional challenge to supervision, with the belief that good supervision should support both the wellbeing and development of the therapist and, ultimately, the quality of care offered to their clients.

Alongside my therapeutic and supervision practice, I work within a large charity supporting people with complex and often co-occurring needs. This continues to develop my experience of working with complexity, safeguarding, risk, trauma, neurodiversity and multidisciplinary systems. I am able to bring these experiences and skills into supervision, particularly when supporting practitioners who are working with clients whose needs may not fit neatly within one diagnosis, presentation or therapeutic approach.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
