Supervision details

About Me:

Hello and welcome to Clear Path Counselling's supervision page. My name is Marie and I am a fully qualified BACP Counsellor with a Level 5 diploma in children and young people,  based in Basingstoke, Hampshire.

A little about me and the way in which I work with my clients is that I am an integrative counsellor with a person centred foundation. I have always had a passion for helping others. This passion initially started within my career as a youth worker. I worked as a youth worker for 15 years in different areas, including working with teenage parents, travellers, those not in employment and those unsure of their gender identity and sexulity. It was in this time that I developed my knowledge and passion for mental health awareness and well being. Through this passion I felt that there was a gap in mental health support and therefore underwent the required training to become a qualified counsellor.

Witin my private practie I have a range of experiences with client presenting issues which include sexuality, gender identity, anxiety, depression, grief, self-harm, self-esteem, self-confidence and mood disorders to name a few. I am also a lecturer of a Level 4 Diploma in Therapetuic Counselling in a local college.

The way in which I work as a supervisor is that I see supervision as a professional relationship with the aim to aid you, as a counsellor, to reflect on your therapeutic work along with aspects outside of session that may impact your work.

My approach to supervision is based upon my belief that supervision is a joint endeavor in which we will collaboratively work together. I will provide, to the best of my ability, a supportive, nonjudgemental environment in which you will be given time and space to understand and gain insight into your client work, along with your personal circumstances.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
