Supervision details

Good supervision should make you a better therapist and help you feel less alone in the work.

Whether you're newly qualified and still finding your feet, or an experienced practitioner wanting a genuine thinking partner, supervision with me offers a space to slow down, reflect, and make sense of what's happening in your client work and in you as a practitioner.

I'm Cathy Waterhouse, a Psychotherapist, Coach, and qualified Clinical Supervisor.

I bring over 25 years of experience to supervision, including a corporate career before retraining, which means I understand the real-world pressures therapists face, not just the clinical ones. Building a practice, managing boundaries, navigating difficult clients, and sustaining yourself in emotionally demanding work are all part of the conversation.

I work using the Seven-Eyed Model, a framework that looks at the therapeutic relationship from multiple perspectives, including your own responses as a practitioner. It's structured enough to give our work direction, and flexible enough to go where you need it to go.

My supervision style is direct and warm. I'll ask questions that help you think differently, sit with you in the complexity, and be honest when something needs naming. I won't just validate your practice, I'll help you develop it.

I also offer business mentoring for therapists who want support building a sustainable, values-aligned practice alongside their clinical development.

What to expect:

Sessions are reflective, structured, and tailored to where you are in your practice. Whether you're bringing a complex case, an ethical dilemma, a difficult reaction, or a question about your professional direction, there's space for it here.

If you're looking for supervision that takes both your clinical work and your professional wellbeing seriously, I'd love to hear from you.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
