Supervision details

I have been a Counsellor for 11 years. I'm Person Centred and I work in my private practise based in Edinburgh working online or in person in a wellness space in the city centre

In my client work I  have extensive experience of working with neurodiverse people, primarily Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC). I also have an interest in working with OCD, anxiety and depression. I have previously worked for over 5 years in a university counselling service.  Before becoming a Counsellor I worked for 10+ years as a Team Leader/Support Worker in outreach and supported living projects in care support services. I would like to share these experiences with supervisees.

Supervision:

I have found supervision vital, sustaining and challenging and I hope to support supervisees to explore their work in a trusting and open way. I have faced and overcome challenges in my career and jobs as a dyslexic person which I think will be very helpful in supporting others dealing with these issues directly and indirectly.

I see supervision as a expansive space where we try to look at your client work from every angle and also you as a Therapist within this.

I offer an initial phone call or online via Doxy. So we can then discuss and arrange an initial supervision session. I use a room in the centre of Edinburgh for face to face sessions.

Initial session:

Before meeting for our initial session I will send you a counselling contract to sign which gives more details on our supervision agreement, rates and how I work.

Our first session is a space where you can ask questions, discuss what you would like to get from supervision. I also will ask if there are any adaptations you need to get the most out of supervision e.g do you want to write notes/do you want resources emailed to you/room adjustments etc.

I offer an initial consultation session reduced fee (£30 for 50 mins) its a full supervision session.

Please do get in touch- Thank you!

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
