Supervision details

I am a supervisor, former counselling tutor and qualified teacher. My supervisory practice is rooted in a Person-Centred philosophy and informed by Level 7 training in psychological trauma. This includes a particular understanding of vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue and the impact of emotionally demanding work on practitioners.

I aim to support supervisees in developing reflective awareness, ethical practice and professional resilience, while encouraging sustainable ways of caring for themselves within the realities of therapeutic work. My mindfulness teacher training further informs this aspect of my supervisory practice.

My intention is to co-create a collaborative supervisory relationship where practitioners—from trainees to experienced therapists—feel able to bring uncertainty, self-doubt, ethical dilemmas and challenges without fear of judgement. Rather than positioning myself as the expert with answers, I seek to help cultivate your own inner supervisor, enabling you to develop confidence in your clinical thinking and decision-making.

I recognise that therapeutic work is shaped by many interacting influences. Cultural, social and political contexts affect both clients' experiences and practitioners' understanding, including the impact of race, ethnicity, culture, gender, sexuality, disability, neurodiversity, class, faith, age and other intersecting identities. I therefore encourage thoughtful reflection on how power, privilege and marginalisation influence therapeutic relationships and client concerns.

Alongside private practice, I spent many years teaching and training counsellors from the beginning of their training through to qualification. This has given me a strong understanding of counsellor development, the evolving challenges practitioners encounter throughout their careers, and the importance of reflective practice at every stage.

I am a BACP Accredited counsellor and psychotherapist working with individuals, relationships and young people. My clinical work includes trauma, adverse childhood experiences and relationship difficulties, and I also work creatively through sand tray and outdoor sessions. I welcome supervisees from diverse backgrounds, working across a range of settings and client groups.

I offer clinical supervision to trainees and qualified counsellors and psychotherapists on an individual basis or as part of a pre-arranged supervision group. Individual walk-and-talk supervision is also available on request.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The premises I use are on the 1st floor, which has a lift, toilets and a car park. Currently, due to fire regulations, in-room clients need to be able to walk down the stairs in the event of a fire. The room is nut and food-free. It does have live plants
