Supervision details

I offer supervision in my private practice to counsellors who work in private practice themselves, or in agencies or schools. In addition, I offer group supervision as a Lead Counsellor in a secondary school.  My model of supervision is influenced by the “Seven-eyed Model” (sometimes called the process model or the double matrix model). I believe it is a useful way of looking at the supervision process and I have adapted my way of working from this. The reason I like this model is because it provides a useful ‘map’ to know where we are, at any time, within the supervisory relationship. Further, I have found this model particularly useful because it focuses on relational aspects between client, therapist, and supervisor whilst also integrating systemic ideas by focusing on the interplay between each relationship and their context within the wider system. I also integrate into my model Protor’s ideas of supervision, which is task-based around being restorative (supportive), normative (or managerial) and formative (or educative). I believe that tasks (what needs to happen), emotions and ideas must all be given space to be explored in supervision. I do not see myself as the expert, but rather I try to be a collaborator with my supervisee. My role as the supervisor is to provide a space in which the supervisee can be open to his or her experience so that it is possible to fully engage with the client. I respect that there are many ways of working therapeutically with clients, and I am open to sharing, exploring and learning alongside you. I have completed a Diploma in Clinical Supervision from Pam Nell Associates, and I supervise counsellors in private practice and as a Lead Counsellor in a secondary school on an individual or group basis. Clinical Supervision Fees: Qualified counsellor: 1 hour £65 Counselling student rate: 1 hour £50. Group rates negotiable.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
