Supervision details

About Me & My Supervision Practice
My core modality is Relational Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy. My clinical and research interests have enabled me to work thoughtfully with the intersection of psychodynamic processes, spirituality, meaning-making, and locus of control, alongside a wide range of clinical presentations.

I have been practising as a psychotherapist for over 20 years and have supervised both trainees and qualified practitioners for nearly a decade. Alongside my clinical work, I am a Programme Leader in Counselling and Psychotherapy and the Senior Manager in different Counselling Settings, which allows me to bring an integrated academic, organisational, and clinical perspective to supervision.

My Approach to Supervision
My supervisory approach is firmly relational. I understand supervision as a living relationship that supports your development as a reflective, ethical, and resilient practitioner.

I aim to offer supervision as a nurturing, enabling, and respectful space, where you can think deeply about your clinical work while feeling supported and held. Alongside a strong developmental focus, I value collaborative exploration — learning with you as we reflect on your work with clients.

I believe it is essential that you feel able to be open, congruent, and honest with your supervisor. This is why the supervisory relationship matters: it should feel safe enough to explore uncertainty, complexity, and challenge, while still holding a clear and reliable supervisory frame.

My Supervisory Philosophy
My hope is to support you in:

Developing as a safe, ethical, and thoughtful practitioner
Deepening your clinical understanding and confidence
Attending to self-care and professional sustainability in demanding work
Integrating theory, emotional experience, and reflective practice
I enjoy incorporating creative approaches where appropriate, as these can help integrate thinking, feeling, and embodied experience — supporting both the “left and right brain” aspects of clinical work.

I genuinely love what I do and take great pleasure in supporting others in their professional journeys. I bring warmth, curiosity, and substantial clinical experience, having worked with a wide range of presentations and contexts.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
