Supervision details

Hello fellow kindred spirit and colleague, call me, if you are looking for a counselling and psychotherapy supervisor, where: you as an unique individual are at the centre of the supervisory work, your work matters as expression of who you are as a whole person, you are encouraged to grow and develop yourself as the most important 'tool' for the process of your work, you find many years of experience, high professional credentials, and above all in a world increasing depersonalisation meet with me a fellow human being interested in your humanness.

OWN APPROACH - PERSON-CENTRED I offer clinical and research supervision from a humanistic-integrative perspective and have much working experience in the academic world as well as hands-on practice experience of counselling and psychotherapy.

SUPERVISION FOR YOUR PRACTICE AND CLINICAL WORK WITH CLIENTS (If you want to find out more about me, you can do so in my main counselling entry on this site.) Briefly: I have over 25 years experience of working with clients (over 20,000 hours) in various settings.  I have a Masters in Psychology (specialising in: Clinical Psychology, Intervention Methods and Education).  I am dedicated to our profession and present at national and international conferences (Belgium, Denmark, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, USA; also online hosted from: China, New Zealand, USA). I have written some articles and a book-chapter.

For over 25 years I supervised Diploma, BA and MA trainees in their counselling or psychotherapy placements (e.g. at Regent's College London, University of Reading) as well as staff at varying levels (e.g. Drug Centre, Drop-in-Centre).

My view of human nature is humanistic (person-centred) and depending on what you present, your personality and your individual needs, I integrate aspects of e.g.: Gestalt, Transactional Analysis, CBT, Positive Psychology, Existential & Transpersonal Approaches. I successfully assisted supervisees to obtain BACP accreditation and HPC registration (counselling psychology). All of my supervisees have obtained their credentials in their first attempt.

SUPERVISION FOR YOUR RESEARCH I have over 15 years experience in supervising research dissertations at Diploma, BA and MA level (e.g. Regent's University, CCPE, Thames Valley University). The paradigms I supervise are: Humanistic & Transpersonal. I have written articles and presented at conferences on the topic of research supervision. I am keen to assist you to fulfil your potential, to encourage, support and also challenge you to challenge yourself. My track record is excellent, with currently over 70% of my MA students achieving 'Distinctions' for their dissertations.

UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
