Supervision details
I offer clinical supervision to trainee and qualified psychotherapists and counsellors, individually and in small groups.
My approach to supervision is predominantly existential. I look at the client and the therapeutic relationship from an existential perspective, exploring the wider context of the client's life, their relationships, choices, meaning and experience, as well as what is happening between therapist and client.
My training and experience also give me a good understanding of integrative, person-centred, Gestalt and psychodynamic approaches, as well as CBT and NLP. This allows me to engage with different ways of working while bringing an existential perspective to the supervision.
Supervision is thoughtful, collaborative and exploratory. There is space to discuss clinical dilemmas, the therapeutic relationship, risk, boundaries and ethics, as well as situations where you feel uncertain, stuck or challenged. I am interested in helping therapists think more deeply about their work and develop confidence in their own way of practising, rather than prescribing how therapy should be done.
I have over 20 years’ experience as a therapist and extensive experience in coaching, mentoring, training and facilitating individuals and groups.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
