Supervision details

Finding the right supervisor is important. You need a space where you can bring your questions, uncertainties and challenges without fear of judgement. A space where you feel supported and encouraged, but also thoughtfully challenged when needed.

I'm Julie, a BACP Accredited Counsellor, Clinical Supervisor and EMDR Therapist with many years of experience working with trauma, birth trauma, pregnancy loss, anxiety and perinatal mental health. I offer warm, collaborative supervision to counsellors and helping professionals, both online across the UK and in person in Newton Abbot, Devon.

I believe supervision should be more than simply meeting professional requirements. It should be a restorative space that supports your development, nurtures your confidence and helps you offer the best possible care to your clients.

My approach is relational and collaborative. I aim to create a safe, non-judgemental environment where you feel able to explore your client work openly, reflect on your own responses and deepen your understanding of the therapeutic process.

Areas of interest and expertise:

  • Trauma and PTSD
  • EMDR-informed practice
  • Birth trauma
  • Pregnancy loss and baby loss
  • Pregnancy after loss
  • Antenatal and postnatal mental health
  • Anxiety
  • Working with grief and loss
  • Relationship difficulties
  • Therapist well-being and self-care

I welcome both trainee and qualified counsellors and understand that each stage of professional development brings different challenges. Whether you're newly qualified and building confidence, or an experienced practitioner seeking a reflective and supportive space, supervision can help you feel less alone with the work.

Supervisees often tell me they value my warmth, compassion and ability to professionally challenge while helping them think more deeply about their work. I believe we do our best work when we feel supported ourselves.

I offer a free 15-minute introductory call, giving us the opportunity to talk about your needs and see whether we feel like the right fit.

Supervision should feel like somewhere you can breathe, think and grow, not somewhere you have to perform.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
