Supervision details

I offer warm, collaborative and reflective clinical supervision for counsellors at different stages of their professional development. My approach is grounded in the belief that supervision should provide a safe and supportive space where you can think openly about your client work, explore challenges and celebrate your development as a practitioner.

As an integrative, person-centred counsellor and BACP accredited practitioner, I bring experience of working with a broad range of presenting issues, including trauma, bereavement, anxiety, relationship difficulties, workplace issues and complex life experiences. I have particular experience and interest in trauma-informed practice and working relationally.

My supervision style is supportive but appropriately challenging. I aim to create a relationship where you feel comfortable bringing uncertainty, mistakes, ethical dilemmas, difficult relational dynamics and the cases that stay with you after the working day. I see supervision as much more than case management; it is also a space to consider you as the practitioner and how your own responses, experiences and patterns may interact with the therapeutic work.

I draw upon established supervision frameworks, including the Seven-Eyed Model, while adapting the way I work to the individual supervisee rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. We may explore the client, therapeutic relationship, wider systems, risk and safeguarding, ethical practice, professional development and your own wellbeing and sustainability as a counsellor.

I particularly welcome counsellors who value a relational, down-to-earth and non-judgemental approach to supervision, whether you are newly qualified and building confidence or an experienced practitioner looking for a fresh perspective on your work.

Supervision is available online, offering flexibility for counsellors throughout Northern Ireland and across the UK.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
