Supervision details

I view supervision as a collaborative reflective space where we can explore your case work and gain a deeper understanding of the dynamics at play in your therapeutic work. I incorporate the social model of mental health, which emphasises the broader context of the clients lived experience and history; combined with a relational perspective focusing on the complex or challenging ways clients connect with you in the room. In my counselling practice, I regularly draw on attachment theory, psychodynamic and person centred approaches, which I often incorporate into supervision as a means of giving a richer understanding of what’s happening in the clients life.  Supervision when it’s done well should provide a rich space for professional development, promote ethical practice and give you a safe outlet for processing or just airing the many pressures that can come with frontline mental health work.

My previous experience has included working within a community mental health team, crisis intervention services and for the last ten years I’ve mainly specialised in working with young people with complex needs. I’m a registered Mental Health Social Worker and have completed post graduate certificates in Gestalt Psychotherapy, Transactional Analysis and a core diploma in Person Centred Psychotherapy. In 2025, I completed a postgraduate certificate in clinical supervision at the Manchester Institute of Psychotherapy and I currently provide supervision to trainee / student Counsellors and Social Workers at 42nd Street; a specialist young people’s mental health service.

I feel its really important that the therapist / supervisor relationship should be the right fit and you should be able to find someone that you feel comfortable with, that’s why I offer a 20 minute introduction call to ask any questions you might have about how I work.

I offer a discount to student counsellors of £50 per hour and a sliding scale for frontline professionals depending on financial circumstances.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
