Understanding trauma and trauma-informed counselling
Feel more grounded, confident, and effective when working with trauma
Trauma shows up in many forms, and even the most experienced therapists can find it emotionally heavy, complex, or overwhelming at times. If you’ve ever second-guessed what “trauma-informed” really means in practice, this workshop is for you.
This full-day, in-person workshop offers a practical, compassionate approach to understanding trauma and deepening your confidence in the therapy room.
You’ll leave with clear insights and tools you can use immediately with clients, and a steadier relationship with your own nervous system, too.
In this trauma-informed training, we’ll explore:
- how trauma affects the brain and body
- tools for nervous system regulation for both clients and you
- how to spot subtle and overt signs of trauma in sessions
- ways of building safety, trust, and connection
- practical grounding and somatic techniques
- what re-traumatisation is, how it happens, and how to prevent it
This training is ideal for counsellors, psychotherapists, and mental health professionals who want to feel:
- more confident supporting trauma-impacted clients
- better equipped with practical, ethical, and relational strategies
- supported rather than isolated in their learning and growth
You don’t need to be a “trauma specialist” – just open to learning, reflection, and connection.
