Sexual Abuse Through a Psychosexual Lens is a live, interactive 4.5-hour online training session for counsellors, therapists and professionals working with survivors of sexual abuse.

The training addresses an often-overlooked area of survivor support: the impact of sexual abuse on relationships, touch, intimacy, sexual functioning and the ability to experience pleasure. It is designed to help professionals develop the knowledge, language and confidence to approach these conversations thoughtfully, safely and without pathologising survivors’ responses.

The session explores self-care, confidentiality, terminology relating to abuse and coercion, biological trauma responses, understanding the survivor’s perspective, helpful language when responding, legal considerations and record keeping, signposting, professional boundaries, and the impact of trauma on sex and intimacy.

The training uses discussion, reflection and practical examples to help participants apply their learning to professional practice. It will be delivered live via Zoom, with places limited to a small group to maintain an interactive and supportive learning environment.
