CPCAB level 5 diploma in psychotherapeutic counselling (PC-L5)
Delivered in line with CPCAB standards, this qualification is designed for qualified counsellors who are ready to deepen their practice and move towards independent or more senior roles.
Course overview

This course is ideal if you want to move beyond foundational counselling into more complex, autonomous practice.
What you’ll be expected to do
As part of CPCAB requirements, you will typically need to:
- complete client work (minimum ~60 hours)
- attend clinical supervision alongside practice
- undertake personal therapy (minimum hours required)
- build a portfolio of evidence and written assignments
- complete an external assessment (case review)
This ensures you are developing both competence and ethical accountability in real practice.
Entry requirements
To enrol, you will need:
- a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (or equivalent)
- to be aged 19+
- current or planned placement/client work access
- readiness for experiential and reflective learning
September 2026 enrolment – L&M counselling and training
Start date: September 2026 intake
Delivery: 20 sessions
Part-time (typically)
- one day or evening per week across the academic year, online
- one weekend per month for the academic year, in person in Bexleyheath, Kent
