Do you understand what happens in the body when a client experiences stress, anxiety or trauma?

Our emotional experiences don't happen in isolation. Thoughts, emotions, the nervous system and physical sensations are constantly interacting, and understanding this connection can help us develop a deeper understanding of the people we support.

Join me for a practical, engaging and trauma-informed one-day training designed to help therapists, counsellors and mental health professionals develop their understanding of the mind-body connection and take practical tools into their work.

What will you learn?

During the day, we will explore:

The science behind the mind-body connection

Understand how the brain, nervous system, hormones and body interact.

Emotional awareness and regulation

Explore emotions, triggers and the relationship between thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

Stress, anxiety and the nervous system

Develop your understanding of fight, flight, freeze and fawn responses and how stress can affect the body.

Somatic awareness

Explore how emotional experiences can be reflected through physical sensations and tension in the body.

Breathwork and self-compassion

Learn practical breathing and grounding techniques that can support emotional regulation and wellbeing.

Introduction to DBT and EMDR

Gain an accessible introduction to two therapeutic approaches and how they can contribute to understanding emotional regulation and trauma.

This isn't just theory

The training combines theory, discussion, reflection and practical exercises, giving you the opportunity to experience some of the techniques for yourself and consider how they could be incorporated into your own practice.

Whether you're an experienced therapist looking to expand your toolkit or a practitioner wanting to develop a stronger understanding of trauma, emotional regulation and the nervous system, this training offers a day of learning, reflection and practical development.
