About me

You’ve carried responsibility for years. Now something feels missing.

From the outside, you may look steady. You work. You provide. People rely on you.
Inside, it can feel flat, tense, or disconnected. Your mind won’t switch off. You’re functioning, but something feels absent.

A significant part of my work is with men in midlife who have spent years being the reliable one. Over time, that role can narrow your sense of identity. You keep going, but you feel less connected to yourself.

Therapy gives you space to slow down and look at what’s underneath that pressure. Not to remove your responsibilities, but to understand how you relate to them and to respond more consciously rather than reactively.

I also work with university students navigating academic pressure, impostor feelings, anxiety and identity questions. Higher education can intensify self-criticism and fear of failure. Understanding the pattern often helps more than simply pushing harder.

Alongside this, I support people facing serious illness, anticipatory grief or bereavement. These conversations are often avoided elsewhere. They don’t need to be avoided here.

I practice in Frimley, Surrey, in a private and professional setting with ample parking. I offer face-to-face, online and telephone sessions.

I work with adults (18+), including students and older adults.

Sessions are 50 minutes and usually weekly. I offer both short-term and longer-term work. We review progress regularly to ensure the work remains relevant.

In the room, I am calm and steady. I won’t rush you. I will also challenge you when it is useful.

Training, qualifications & experience

I hold a Foundation Degree in Integrative Counselling (BACP accredited) and am a Registered Member of the BACP.

My approach is integrative and relational, informed by humanistic, psychodynamic and transpersonal perspectives.

Before training as a therapist, I worked for many years in technical and property-based roles. I understand what it means to retrain later in life, to face redundancy, and to question your identity after decades of responsibility. That lived experience informs my work with professionals and midlife clients who feel defined by what they provide rather than who they are.

Alongside my career, I spent several years volunteering in hospice home support, sitting with people facing serious illness and end of life. I also held pastoral roles within my local community, supporting individuals and families through periods of stress, loss and transition. These experiences shaped my understanding of presence, emotional containment and the value of steady, non-judgemental support.

Together, these strands; professional responsibility, pastoral involvement and hospice support, form the foundation of how I now work therapeutically: calm, grounded and able to sit with difficult realities without rushing to fix them.

I volunteer with The Brain Tumour Charity and at the University of Surrey Wellbeing Centre, supporting individuals affected by illness, loss and significant life transition.

I engage in regular clinical supervision and ongoing professional development.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
