About me

Starting university or your career can feel exciting at first — a chance to build your own life and independence.

But for many, this stage can also bring anxiety, overwhelm, and self-doubt. You might find yourself overthinking, comparing yourself to others, or feeling pressure to have everything figured out. If you’re struggling with anxiety or feeling overwhelmed in early adulthood, you’re not alone.

Hi, I’m Zoe. I’m an integrative counsellor specialising in working with adults in ‘quarterlife’ experiencing anxiety, overwhelm, and life transitions. Quarterlife is the period of time between your 20s and 40s and is a unique stage of life with its own particular pressures. I understand how challenging this period can be. Alongside my own experience of anxiety as a younger adult, I’ve spent over 11 years supporting clients with issues such as anxiety, low self-esteem, feeling lost, and navigating early adulthood. I offer a warm, supportive space where you can talk openly about what’s going on for you, without judgement.

In our counselling sessions, we’ll explore your anxiety and the thoughts and feelings behind it, helping you to feel more in control and better able to cope. As an integrative therapist, I use a range of approaches, tailoring our work to suit you and your individual needs.

Many people I work with come to counselling feeling stuck, anxious, or lacking confidence. Over time, they often begin to feel calmer, more grounded, and more able to move forward with clarity and self-trust.

I have over 20 years’ experience working across mental health, education, and social care settings, and have spent the last 11+ years providing counselling and support for young adults experiencing anxiety and life transitions.

If you’re looking for counselling for anxiety or support as a younger adult feeling overwhelmed, you’re very welcome to get in touch.

I offer a free 30-minute initial consultation so we can talk about what’s been going on for you and see if working together feels like the right fit.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an experienced counsellor, with over 20 years’ experience working with young people and adults across a range of education, health, and social care settings. I have previously worked with adult clients in the NHS and within school counselling services, and since 2016 I have been running a busy private practice.  I work in an integrative way, which means that I use all my experience and training in different approaches to best meet your needs.

I offer face-to-face sessions in and around central Bristol, as well as online sessions across the UK. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and adhere to their ethical framework.

I hold a degree in Psychology from University College London and a Diploma in Counselling from the University of the West of England. I have also undertaken an Advanced Diploma in Supervision (including online), and offer both face-to-face and online supervision.

In private practice, I work with adults aged 18 and over, offering both short-term, goal-oriented work and longer-term, open-ended therapy.

To help you decide whether I am the right counsellor for you, I offer a free 30-minute initial consultation.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Further information

I understand how daunting it can be to reach out for support and so I am happy to offer a free 30-minute initial consultation so that you can get to know me and my style of working better before making a commitment to sessions.  The initial consultation gives you an opportunity to experience how I work by exploring what is bringing you to therapy and what your hopes are from coming to counselling.  I will ask some questions to gain a better understanding of the issues you are bringing and your current situation.  I will also be able to describe in more detail my approach to counselling and answer any questions you may have.
