About me
Zoe Burnay
Psychotherapeutic Counsellor | Norwich & Online
For the parts of you that haven’t had a voice - yet.
“What do you want to be when you grow up?”
“Kind,” said the boy. – Charlie Mackesy
These simple words resonate deeply with me - because kindness is often overlooked, yet it’s the foundation of meaningful therapeutic work. I believe that when kindness is at the heart of the counselling relationship, it creates the safety and connection needed for real healing.
I’m Zoe, a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor offering a warm, non-judgemental space where you can feel truly heard. I work both in private practice and for mental health and homelessness charities, supporting clients with a range of emotional challenges.
My approach is pluralistic, which means I draw from person-centred, psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioural therapies - allowing me to adapt to your needs as they change, and to work at your pace.
You might be feeling stuck, overwhelmed, anxious, or low - or simply finding it hard to cope with life’s demands. Perhaps this is the first time you’re reaching out. Whatever brings you here is valid. You don’t need to have the words worked out - just a willingness to begin.
“When a person realises he has been deeply heard, his eyes moisten.
I think in some real sense he is weeping for joy.
It is as though he were saying, ‘Thank God, somebody heard me.
Someone knows what it's like to be me.’”
– Carl R. Rogers
Therapy with me is about giving voice to the parts of you that may have been silenced by life, by others, or by yourself. It’s a chance to share your story in a space where you don’t have to feel judged or “fixed,” but gently supported.
If you’re unsure or nervous about starting, I offer a no-pressure initial chat - just a chance to see how it feels.

The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
