About me
Welcome, I'm Zerrin.
My approach is in Integrative Psychotherapy, a more person-centered approach. I work with a wide range of emotional and behavioral issues, providing services that span from therapy for depression and anxiety, addiction, grief counselling and beyond. In a safe and supportive atmosphere, I offer a highly personalised approach tailored to each of my clients' individual needs to help attain the personal growth they are looking for. I will listen to your personal experience and walk with you, on your journey to change.
I also specialise in working with children and young people who are experiencing anxiety, depression, eating disorders and self-harming behaviours.
We experience anxiety, fear, sadness, depression or uncertainty at some point of our lives, these thoughts and feelings can become overwhelming and lead to psychological dysfunction. I believe counselling can help you begin to tolerate, accept, make lasting personal change, giving you a stronger sense of who you are and what you need, it can guide you through some of life’s major transitions.
Typically, we will have an initial session in which to explore what has brought you to counselling, we can explore if we think we are suited to working with each other. I offer both short-term and long-term therapy. The duration of therapy depends on a client's needs and concerns and this is discussed at the initial session.
Whether it is the first time you are considering counselling or have some experience of therapy in the past, please feel free to contact me for a brief chat on how therapy could help you and your problems.
Taking the initial step can be difficult, but stepping into a therapeutic journey is highly likely to be rewarding at the end.
Training, qualifications & experience
I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists accredited), and previously a degree in Psychology BSc (British Psychological Society accredited).
I have completed a range of additional training in third wave Cognitive Behavioural Therapies, mindfulness based practice, attachment in practice, and I have a wide range of experience in counselling & psychotherapy both working with children & young people, families and adults.
I have worked within the NHS over many years in different areas including, forensic mental health services, addiction problems and talking therapies, and currently working in Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, as well as practising privately.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
