About me

Life can be challenging, filled with complex struggles whether one seeks personal growth, self-understanding, or coping mechanisms for ongoing difficulties. Understanding how much courage it takes to start therapy, I'm here to offer a warm and supportive space where you can safely share and explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe and nurturing environment. My practice is geared towards helping individuals navigate these waters with empathy and expertise.

I’m a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with over six years of experience working in the NHS and with various charities. Through my work, I've gained a deep understanding of how to help adults from all kinds of backgrounds face a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties. My life experiences in different parts of the world have taught me to be especially attuned to the unique aspects of everyone’s background, including their culture and identity. This understanding is crucial because it helps me appreciate each person’s individual journey. I use a holistic and humanistic approach, focusing on the complete well-being of each individual rather than just addressing specific problems. I pay special attention to how different aspects of a person's identity, like race, gender, sex, and age, can impact their experiences and needs.

My aim is to nurture resilience and self-compassion through evidence-based therapeutic interventions, providing the tools and understanding necessary to encourage profound personal growth and positive change.

Training, qualifications & experience

As a Chartered Counselling Psychologist, I bring a pluralistic approach to therapy, skilfully combining techniques from person-centred, psychodynamic, and third-wave cognitive behavioural therapies. I tailor each session to meet the unique needs of my clients, incorporating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and offering walk-and-talk therapy options. This flexibility ensures that each client’s individual journey toward healing is respected and nurtured.

My educational background includes a BA in Psychology from Dalhousie University in Halifax Canada, a Master of Science in Social & Applied Psychology from the University of Kent, and a doctorate in Counselling Psychology from the University of Roehampton in London. I have extensive experience working in various NHS settings, including wards, outpatient clinics, and community services, as well as with charity organisations. Specialising in adult mental health, my work spans a variety of adult mental health services and includes a deep focus on clinical health psychology, particularly the psychological impacts of long-term physical health conditions on mental well-being.
