About me
I'm a psychotherapeutic counsellor who has worked in clinical practice for over five years. In that time I have supported individuals make sense of experiences and crisis points that come with difficult feelings like confusion, distress and shame. My work is to be with my clients, so that what needs to be felt, heard and expressed can be met with compassion and curiosity. I see this process as integrating and empowering.
I believe therapeutic work can be a powerful way to make sense of our experiences and how they have shaped us, it can also be a journey someone starts at any time, if they want to learn more about themselves.
Central to how I work is an understanding that social and political realities affect our emotional and mental health as well as a sensitivity to culture and dynamics of power.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am established in private practise having completed my core psychotherapy training and qualifying as a counsellor.
I am NCPS (National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society) accredited and registered UKATA (UK association for Transactional Analysts) and on the advanced trainee register with UKCP (UK Council or Psychotherapy) I abide by their code of ethics including having regular supervision.
I work as a secondary tutor at a counselling and psychotherapy training institute, main tutor on a counselling skills course and facilitate workshops for cultural leaders.
My previous careers were in media production and in education.

Further information
I am a Black woman therapist who works in a humanistic and relational way. This means that I hold the inherent worth of all of my clients as sacred. As a relational therapist I attend to what emerges between us as information about deeper processes and messages that may be proving to be restrictive, limiting or painful in current life. I have over five years of clinical practise, in which time I have supported individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, disordered eating, PTSD, the impacts of bullying and abuse, bereavement, relationship issues, work place issues and chronic illness. I have a special interest in working with trauma, particularly relational and complex trauma.
Additionally, I have experience facilitating groups and am an assistant tutor at The Link psychotherapy training institute in Sussex. I have travelled widely, including stints living abroad and have worked previously as a learning support assistant in schools and as a Producer in both culture and media.
