About me

Hi, I'm Zak (he/him). I’m a fully qualified counsellor, and I’m here to support you with whatever you’re facing right now.

I’d like to tell you a bit about myself and how I work with clients, so that you have a sense of what therapy would be like with me.

In our sessions, as we talk, you'll hear me ask about what’s happening in your body. Sometimes, our bodies hold onto feelings and experiences we can’t yet put into words. By paying attention to physical sensations, movements or gestures, we can uncover valuable insights. This helps us connect with what’s really going on, beyond what words can express.

You'll also notice me asking about your experiences as a child or young person. Often, the patterns we develop early in life—ways of thinking, feeling or behaving—helped us survive or gain love when we were younger. But as we grow, these patterns can hang around, even when they no longer serve us. Together, we can explore them, giving you more choice in how they shape your life today.

These are just some of the many ways our conversations could go.

I also value and celebrate the diversity each of us brings—whether that relates to your race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, age, beliefs or ability. My practice is LGBTQ+ affirmative and anti-racist because I believe that by honouring our differences, we can deepen compassion for ourselves and each other.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been working in mental health since 2014, having been a Trustee of West London Mind and served as a befriender for Mind too.

I received my Diploma in Counselling from The Minster Centre in London and a Certificate in Counselling Skills from Birkbeck College (part of University College London).

I’m a Registered Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), have an Enhanced DBS Certificate, and I’m registered with the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) which means I protect your personal data through GDPR.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
