About me
Hello, I am Yvonne and I am an experienced Counsellor and Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist who specialises in infant, adult, and family psychotherapy and extreme trauma.
One in four adults and children suffer from mental health issues. Whatever your background, there is no shame in seeking help. I offer psychotherapy and counselling that is confidential, personal, and non-judgemental.
- Does your life feel quite unbearable right now?
- Has your work and family life spiralled out of control?
- Are you struggling to bond with your new baby or your young child or is your teenager in emotional pain?
- Have you lost a loved one due to a relationship breaking down or a bereavement?
- Perhaps your hopes and dreams have been shattered and you are wondering if there is a way out of this dark place?
All of the above life events can cause us to feel many confusing emotions such as anxiety, depression, or anger. You being here right now is an important step towards changing your situation for the better.
I am a friendly and compassionate therapist and my aim is to help my clients to feel empowered, not dependent.
I bring to my general practice a specialism in parent-infant psychotherapy, which is accredited by the UKCP. Through parent-infant psychotherapy, I can help you to strengthen the relationship with your baby and give you an opportunity to talk through your worries about your baby. Looking after a baby can be challenging and at times stressful. Sometimes past experiences might affect the infant-parent bond. We can think together about how your past experiences might be affecting you now.
I also offer training and supervision for professionals and have conducted parent-infant psychotherapy research in order to develop best practice in this field of work.

Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
In 2016 I embarked on a fellowship with the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, visiting Norway, Sweden, and U.S.A to research Best Practice in Parent-Infant Psychotherapy (PIP).
How did I come to be a psychotherapist?
In 1983 my husband and I set up a charitable extended family for vulnerable young people and those leaving care, to give them a secure base and skills for life. I have also mentored young offenders and school refusers before taking the role of a professional foster carer in order to provide permanence for siblings in care.
We fostered siblings who had come from a difficult background. Working with these children had its challenges, which encouraged me to learn in order to help them, naturally developing over the years to this present moment where I extend my help to you.
