About me
Hi, I’m Yvonne, an NCPS Accredited counsellor based in Aberystwyth. I offer a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about what’s going on for you and begin to make sense of things at your own pace.
I work in an integrative and trauma-informed way, tailoring therapy to each individual person rather than using a one size fits all approach. Alongside counselling, I also offer EMDR therapy for trauma, anxiety and distressing or intrusive memories.
I particularly specialise in supporting people experiencing anxiety, trauma, and emotional overwhelm. This may include panic, intrusive thoughts, hypervigilance, people-pleasing, emotional exhaustion, or feeling disconnected from yourself after difficult life experiences.
I also support people with low self-esteem, depression, relationship difficulties, stress, eating disorders, menopause, and workplace challenges.
Many of the people I work with feel stuck in cycles of overthinking, hypervigilance, panic, people-pleasing or emotional exhaustion. Together, we can explore what may be contributing to these patterns, helping you better understand yourself while developing ways to feel safer, calmer and more grounded.
My approach is compassionate, collaborative and gentle. I believe therapy should feel safe enough for you to be fully yourself, without fear of judgement or pressure.
Where it feels helpful, I also use gentle psychoeducation to support clients in understanding how the brain and body respond to anxiety, trauma and stress. Many people find this empowering, as it can reduce self-blame, bring clarity to overwhelming experiences, and support meaningful change.
A bit about me
I came to counselling after navigating my own experiences of mental health difficulties and trauma. With the support of someone who truly listened, I learned that healing was possible; not just coping, but experiencing genuine growth and change. That journey led me to become a counsellor, and it continues to shape the way I work with others.
If any of this resonates with you, you’re very welcome to get in touch. I offer a free 10-minute introductory call, giving you the opportunity to ask questions and see whether working together feels right for you.

Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
