About me
Hello, my name is Wendy.
People often come to therapy when something in life feels hard to manage or make sense of. You may be struggling with anxiety, feeling overwhelmed by stress, caught in unhelpful relationship patterns, grieving a loss, questioning your sense of identity, or navigating a significant change in your life. Sometimes the difficulty is clear; at other times, there may simply be a sense that things are not as they once were or as you would like them to be. I offer a welcoming space where you can bring whatever feels important as we to explore these experiences together.
My approach begins with understanding you as a whole person rather than focusing on a particular symptom or diagnosis. While therapy can offer practical ways of managing difficulties in the present, I also believe that meaningful and lasting change often comes from making sense of the experiences, relationships and patterns that have shaped us over time. Greater understanding can open up new possibilities, helping you to respond to yourself, others, and to life’s challenges with more flexibility, self‑awareness and choice.
I value working collaboratively, recognising that you are the expert on your own life, while I bring psychological knowledge, a non‑judgemental stance, and a commitment to helping you make sense of your experiences and supporting you as you work towards finding solutions to the problems you’re facing. The therapeutic relationship is central to this work, and my intention is to offer a space that feels safe, attuned and supportive, where you feel understood as we explore what feels most important to you.
Training, qualifications & experience
- MSc Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, UK
- Certificate in Online and Telephone Counselling, UK
- Bachelor of Psychology (Honours), South Africa
- PhD (Drama and Theatre Arts), South Africa
- Higher Education Diploma (PGCE equivalent), South Africa
Alongside my private practice, I also work within an established counselling service, where I support clients presenting with a range of emotional and psychological difficulties. Before this, I gained experience in both school‑based therapeutic work with children and young people and community‑based therapy with adults, which has given me a grounded understanding of how people seek support in different contexts and at different stages of life. These roles continue to inform my practice and the way I work alongside clients in a responsive and attuned way.
Member organisations
school Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society This Not For Profit association of counsellors and psychotherapists aim to support the counselling profession, members and training organisations. In 2013 the NCS register was accredited by the Professional Standards Authority under the Accredited Voluntary Register Scheme. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
As an integrative therapist, I tailor my approach to your individual needs rather than working from a single modality. My practice is grounded primarily in the person-centred approach, valuing empathy, authenticity, and respect for each person's unique experience. Alongside this, I draw on psychodynamic and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and may also incorporate ideas from Gestalt therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and creative arts approaches where these may be beneficial.
Whether you are seeking short‑term support around a particular difficulty or longer‑term psychotherapy, I aim to offer a therapeutic space where you can talk through your feelings, and I work with you to ease distress and to develop the insight and resilience to support you in navigating the challenges that arise in your life.
Sessions are 50 minutes long and usually take place weekly, though this can be adjusted to suit your individual needs.
If you would like more information or wish to arrange a free 20‑minute consultation, you can contact me through the BACP form or via my website. I reply to all messages within 24 hours.
During this free 20‑minute consultation, we can talk about what brings you to therapy, and I will outline how I work so you have a sense of what sessions with me are like. You’re welcome to ask any questions about the process or practicalities. This short conversation is not therapy; it’s simply an opportunity for us to see whether working together feels right.
