About me

**I offer counselling for individuals and couples

I help clients who feel 'lost' not sure who they are anymore. Whether it is from a loss, break up, empty nest, menopause, job loss, redundancy or retirement. I also help clients who struggle to form or maintain friendships or relationships. Clients who struggle with  pressure from families, decisions on kids, marriage, house etc...

What I specialise in for Individuals

Anxiety: My clients often have anxiety as the core issue and are struggling to manage or cope with this on their own. This includes social anxiety and generalised anxiety disorder. Some clients have anxiety from using dating apps, starting fresh with someone new or ending something (e.g. relationship, job, moving etc..) and the anxiety that comes with it.

Depression: We all have times when our mood is low, and we're feeling sad or miserable about life. Usually these feelings pass in due course. But if the feelings are interfering with your life and don't go away after a couple of weeks, or if they come back over and over again for a few days at a time, it could be a sign that you're experiencing depression.

work related stress: My clients are going through a career change, do not like their jobs anymore or have started in a new job role and find it overwhelming or stressful. It's helpful to learn how to manage stress caused by work. If you often experience feelings of stress, you might be at risk of developing a mental health problem like depression or anxiety.

Couples Therapy:

I work with couples to help resolve a current problem, prevent problems from worsening or to provide a 'check up' for couples.

Common issues addressed in couples therapy include:

  • Money
  • Parenting
  • Sex or loss of intimacy
  • affairs
  • Divorce or seperation
  • In laws/friends
  • Chronic Illness
  • Conflict
  • Non monogamy

Couples therapy is all ages (18+) and at all stages of their relationship not just for those in crisis.

Couples therapy provides a safe and supportive space to think about and explore any issues you may have.

The aim is not to point the finger and blame, but to help both parties reconnect emotionally – to listen to their partner differently, learn to communicate more effectively and create, if appropriate, a happier and healthier relationship going forward. Do you want to improve communication, rebuild trust or get help with other issues affecting your relationship?

About me

I am a firm believer in 'there is no such thing as normal' so I wanted to be honest and tell you a bit about me.

Being a parent of a now adult (child) with multiple complex mental health disorders was tiring, frustrating and lonely as I seemed to be on my own, at times I was expected to know more than the specialists. They were given up on or added to another waiting list. This in itself was overwhelming without managing my daily life and family.

My child is the reason I got into Counselling as watching someone I care deeply about suffer from a child to an adult, feel continuously let down and judged over their mental health and just another statistic or diagnosis.

I have continued my professional development and learnt other skills to help grow my practice and support my clients.

I am passionate about what I do, I see my clients finish Counselling with a positive way of thinking and behaviours and coping techniques for the future.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
