About me
Thank you for visiting the directory, my name is Wendy Cummins. To help you know if I am the right counsellor for you, here is a little about me.
I'm a qualified psychodynamic counsellor and online practitioner and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling Practitioners. Through personal experience I can offer a good insight into 'anxiety.' I know how it feels and most importantly I can support you with how to manage and eventually change those feelings. I completely understand how difficult it can feel to take these first steps, especially when you may already be feeling anxious. It may help you to know that everything we share in our sessions is private and confidential. Counselling with me is a supportive and empathic experience and provides a safe space where you can feel comfortable and secure.
Psychodynamic is a counselling technique where we explore your past and present and how this may be affecting your thoughts and feelings. I believe exploring your thoughts within the counselling relationship can support you through a time when being overwhelmed may be affecting your everyday life and making decisions difficult for you.
It can be helpful to meet you in person, if you prefer this I have a lovely office in Dunmow but I also work online through Zoom. I'm happy to work in either space and it's completely up to you to choose how we meet for our sessions.
Please get in touch if you feel I can help you, a call with me is the first step towards a healthier, happier you.
I'm happy to take your call or email, however if I don't reply immediately please don't worry, I will come back to you within 24 hours.

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I work with Braintree and Dunmow Counselling and Wellbeing Services and I am located in offices on High Street, Great Dunmow. The full address and contact method will be given on appointment. I offer a free introductory call, where we can share a little information and go from there. The practice offers you a safe, confidential space, which is easily accessible from the rear of premises via intercom. Please note as I am located on the first floor, there is a flight of stairs. I offer a combination of counselling and wellbeing in my sessions. Working with you to provide empathic support and safely explore what's troubling you. We all have triggers that can be worked through in the counselling relationship and I believe the wellbeing techniques give the client additional strength to continue through the journey. Remember, be kind to yourself, it's okay not to feel okay, I am here to listen.
