About me

Life can be difficult and if you're reading this, my guess is that you're struggling at this time. It may be hard to believe that things can be different.

I know things can be different because I have seen and experienced the healing that Therapy brings.  For the last ten years of my teaching career I was Pastoral Head in a sixth form college which confirmed to me that the next step for me was to retrain as a Counsellor.  Qualifying in 2018 I have since worked in a variety of Care settings including a Hospice and a Psychodynamic Counselling agency.  My current work is in my Private Practice and I also work part-time at an addictions clinic (Rehab) in Somerset.

All Counselling is about loss in one form or another.  You may have lost a significant person in your life, or you may have lost your job.  Maybe you feel you have lost your way. Your self esteem and confidence may be very low at this time?

I work with all aspects of counselling including relationships, anxiety, depression, grief and bereavement, addictive behaviours, traumas, self-harming and eating disorders.

My training is in the person-centred approach, but I don't believe that one size fits all, so I use various therapeutic models to adapt to your needs.

Above all I believe it is the relationship between the therapist and client which brings healing. Together we can work things through.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
