About me

Hello and welcome; my name is Vivienne and my bckground is in Integrinative Counselling, Psychosexual Therpay, including individuals and couples, and currently training in clincal supervision.

I'm also a fully qualified Couples Therapist, a Clinical Hypnotherapist, an NLP Practitioner, a Laughter Facilitator and a Laughter Yoga Leader.

I have been in practice since 1999 and I work with adults, young adults,  couples and families.

Talking therapy

Counselling works and when you come to visit me you will be in an environment that feels safe and secure. My cabin is a little haven where you can relax in a comfortable chair and talk to someone who is interested in your welfare and has the skills to assist you in finding your own way through whatever it is that troubles you.

Talking therapy is where the client takes the lead, where you can discuss everything and anything without judgement or someone trying to fix things for you. This is where you can bloom and understand and over come anything that is troubling you.

I use all modalities as training integratively enables this and I have trained in all fields, this helps you because, if CBT or Person Centered therapy doesn’t work for you we can use TA, Gestalt, Jungian, Psychodynamic or Extensional.

Combined Therapy

I can, if you choose, combine your therapy to suit your individual needs. The response that combining therapies has given to my clients has been incredible. Using NLP and Hypnotherapy in conjunction with counselling gives more depth to you the client’s welfare and your own personal understanding of the situation. The sessions are very often interspersed with laughter as laughter is the key to combating fear and depression.

Laughter in therapy helps you to conquer fear, giving you the freedom to look at a problem whilst breaking it down with laughter.

Every client is unique with their own life as complex and different from another. Patterns may arise which could be completely out of your awareness. Gentle probing and summary of past sessions or past statements from actual session will help you to recognise any patterns and disturbances and will help identify where you may be stuck. This will help you to see an end point and will lead you into the healing process.

This gives you the opportunity to notice the parallels of your life and your behaviour within a safe environment, to understand what links the past to present and how these links can be unlinked, interchanged and reattached so you become the master of your destiny..

Couples Therapy

When partners start to struggle in the relationship there is always underlining issues going on that haven't been addressed. This is how the blaming starts and the divide gets bigger and bigger.

How I will work with you as a couple and help you find the divide is look at how you're both attached and what attachment style you have. This helps you to understand how you're reacting to different events
If you're feeling unseen, unheard, unloved or feel you're being taken for granted etc, it can often be a case of miss communication, when this happens each partner feels less towards each other because the connection has dwindled and the gap is getting bigger.

Coming for couples therapy will help you both to recognise this and work towards reuniting as the team you were when you started out.

Sometimes of course there isn't a connection anymore and the only thing to do is part and my aim in those circumstances is to help you both separate kindly being mindful of not loosing respect for each other and therefore remaining friends.

All relationships can remain amicable if both parties are wanting this and it's about finding when you use to agree on most things and working up from then.

I find couple counselling intriguing and amazing as you will both learn to truly understand yourself and your own needs as well as your partners.

Laughter Therapy for Depression and Anxiety

This is not for the faint hearted but has amazing results. Why I say not for the faint hearted is because I will arrive at your home around the time you get up, and together we will laugh for an average of 20 minutes. What this will do is raise your endorphin and serotonin levels naturally and as each day goes by you will become happier and more relaxed.

Laughing increases your level of oxygen and when you’re laughing both left and right side of the brain functions giving your mind time to be free of thoughts and just enjoy the moment.

Once the 20 day induction is complete you will feel happier with life, more confident and ready for your next steps. You will have learnt how important laughter is and what the health and social benefits bring to you. You will also have a clear vision of what you can achieve as interspersed with the laughter there will be some very defining moments and memories both joyous and sad that I will help you move through and then forwards with, a bit like life coaching with laughter.

I am very limited for this therapy as the majority of people rise at a similar time in the morning. This can also be used as a family therapy as the more laughter in a home the happier it is.

Walking talking therapy

Here in the Poole and Bournemouth area we are blessed with beautiful walks, through chine’s and woods, along the beach fronts and through the Bournemouth Gardens. I have walked these walks regularly in my life and over the past two years I have been walking these walks with my clients.

The therapy session remains, the difference is we are walking and talking in fresh air, combining movement with therapy.

This style of therapy works especially well for those suffering from anxiety, as often the thought of sitting opposite a therapist for an hour couldn't be anymore nerve racking, so walking and talking takes that pressure away and walking in silence is so much more comfortable than sitting in silence ( when in company that is )

Movement therapy has always been an interest to me, how the body stores emotion from the past to the present. What I am offering is a unique style of counselling that’s both beneficial to your health in body and mind, come rain or shine

How will walking and talking therapy help?

It is well documented that exercise releases endorphin's that make us feel happier, combine that with a counselling session what could be better.

What my clients have found when participating in walking therapy is, they feel more able to move, and because of this they are able to move their emotions; they can stop and start when they feel like. They can sit and ponder whilst looking out to sea or at a flower in bloom. The client controls the walking pace and when to stop and start.

Walking and talking therapy encourages the client to be more physically active and this helps both the mental and physical. It helps clients’ to become unstuck when confronting difficult issues as the movement is already indicating moving forwards, and it spurs creative, deeper ways of thinking helping the client to think more clearly and without restraints.

Clients sometimes become anxious when sitting with a counsellor as they feel under the microscope and the therapist is always looking at them. Walking in parallel takes away that feeling and with the freedom of the fresh air, my clients have found it easier to engage.

Therapy addresses serious conditions and traumas, and working with you as a client I will take these matters seriously and will help you to find what needs to be taken seriously and what can be assessed with humour and a lighter approach.

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
